At our volleyball tournament on Sunday, we were winning one of our games by quite alot. During a time out, I told the girls to challenge themselves to try some of our more difficult plays. I'm sure I said something like, "We can afford to take a couple of risks here. Try some quick sets and start serving to difficult spots."
On the very next play, my setter haphazardly dumped the ball over the net without attempting to set to one of her teammates for the kill. When I reminded her that we did not want to take the easy-way-out on this one, she said, "Okay, but if this was an important game, would that have been a good choice."
I believe she missed the point.
